I was looking through some of my photos and found some similarities– no matter where I move or travel to, apparently I have a fondness for taking pictures of certain things/people/signs/silliness (I’m getting ahead of myself)…
Anyway, I’ve decided to put together a few (brief) compilations of my findings.
Apparently I Have A Fondness For… taking pictures of trees. If you couldn’t tell from this picture of me standing in the middle of the Scottish countryside while rain poured all around me, I enjoy nature.
So here goes– some of the trees I enjoy:
The trees of Sugar Pine where I grew up…
Great tree in Central Park snow…
Trees growing on Thimble Islands off the coast of Connecticut…
Tree covered entrance on the Isle of Skye…
Leaning palm tree in West Palm Beach storm…
Crooked tree and crooked lamp-post in Central Park…
Odd tree roots along Lewis Creek (that I’m convinced the fairy folk live in)…
And last but not least, (my mom and stepdad walking amongst) the trees and leaves of autumn in Central Park…
Just got home from seeing the Kite Runner… and I’m feeling rather deflated at the moment. (If you see the movie and/or read the book, you’ll know why.)
So, last summer when a friend of mine and I were traveling in Europe, something had freaked her out (trust me, she doesn’t freak out easily) and I woke up to her turning on every light in the little Bed & Breakfast on the Isle of Skye. I said, “What on earth are you doing? It’s still night, right?” She said that something had freaked her out (a story which will remain untold at this time) so she was trying to think of her favorite things. (In the interest of disclosure, a few beers at the local pub had previously been involved). Being the person I am (curious), I rolled over and said, “As long as you don’t bust out in song… what have you got so far?”
And now, thanks to Dara, I figured I’d share a few of my favorite things to rescue me from sad-movie-mode:
Soaking In Amazing Sunsets (this one’s in Tahoe)
Brilliant Pub Names
Drinking Beer in Bars With Brilliant Pub Names
The Sugar Pine Mill Pond (where many of my childhood hours were spent)
Getting Private Carriage Tours in Yosemite by A Man Named Burl
Cooking Feasts for My Family
Having friends Who Will Be Silly With You (no matter the time or place)
Being Barefoot in the Sand
And Knowing That Anything Is Possible
